The Silver City Woman's Club is a non-profit, non-political organization, pledged to support the community in the advancement of civic, charitable and humanitarian endeavors.
• Hearing & Vision Testing: Hearing & Vision testing are performed on all Head Start students in Grant County. In addition, several private schools request the club’s service for their younger children.
• Scholarships: Each year, the Club awards two $1,000 scholarships to students at Western New Mexico University. The field of study in any major.
• Senior Shower: Each November, the members collect and donate warm clothing, blankets and other items to needy seniors through three local agencies.
• Baby Shower: In January, members donate baby clothing, blankets, diapers and other baby things to community agencies assisting area families.
• Baby Diapers: Through Jet.com reduced priced diapers are purchased and distributed to the community by way of our partnership with GRMC’s First Born Program.
• School Supplies: Members and the public are asked to donate year round to the club’s School Supply Drive. The supplies are distributed in August to the public in a one day event. In 2017 we distributed 125 large brown bags full of schools supplies. The grades of children served are from pre-school to high school.
• Cancer Patients: Wal-Mart gift cards worth $25.00 are donated to patients at the Gila Regional Cancer Center.
• Pull Tabs: Members collect aluminum pull tabs and monthly donate them to PNM.
• Financial Contributions: Donation checks are presented on a yearly basis to different local community agencies.
• White Socks: Provided on a regular basis to the Free Foot Clinics distributed by the WNMU College of Nursing.
• Toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes: Members collect the items and they are provided to other agencies on a regular basis.
• New 2 U Rummage Sale Fundraiser: The first Saturday in August each year, we hold our annual rummage sale, selling house wares, nick-knacks, unique treasurers and many other great bargain items.
• Pop-Up Pickles 4 Charity plus Popcorn Fundraiser: During the fiscal year the Scholarship committee attends various events and sells dill pickles on a stick. The funds raised are applied towards the two Scholarships awarded annually.
• GDHB Sweet Sale Fundraiser: Each December, our annual sweet sale features theme gift baskets, cookies, cakes, pies, canned jellies/jams and breads baked by our members, along with See's Candy.
• Building Rentals: The charming and historic building is rented to community organizations for business meetings, weddings, special events, banquets and parties.
• Catering: The Catering Committee provides catering services for community organizations and activities. The homemade meals are priced from $15.50 to $17.50, depending on choice of one or two meat entree’s and the type of dessert. Exact meals will be chosen from pre-determined menus.
