The Emp Alumni Fellowship annual meeting will be tomorrow (Tues., 8/5) at 7PM in Watson. We'll be awarding FIVE EAF scholarships as well as taking a special vote at the end of the meeting in which you'll definitely want to participate. For anyone who cannot attend in person, here's the Zoom link:

EAF’s annual meeting was informative and (I’m told) well-received by all who attended. Thanks to Peter, Carolyn, Gale, Sue, and Chris for participating. Special thanks to Mike from Silver Bay’s tech support team who came back 3x to help us with Zoom. Update: I (J.K.) thought Tidy Time (TT) only took place in the fall. Not so. TT takes place in the fall to button the place down for winter and in the spring to open it up for summer. The Bay has requested that we focus on the ERC at this spring's TT (date TBA). That will give everyone involved time to think about what's needed to "perk the ERC" before summer. Spring cleaning makes sense and I hope anyone interested in helping that effort will do so. In the meantime, anyone interested in helping with TT next month is encouraged to follow the Silver Bay Council's link, below, to sign up.

Here’s your 2023-25 EAF Board Dream Team:

J.K. Boodley (President): “During my time at the Bay (’81-’83), I was the sailing instructor, editor of Baylights, then worked in administration as receptionist. Iʼm approaching this second stint as EAF President focused on transforming EAF into a vibrant innovative organization serving both current and former Emps.”

Katie Mullen (VP): “I worked in the Store and as a camp counselor (2018 & ’19). My family has been coming to Silver Bay for over 50 years. It has always been important to me to give back and support the Silver Bay community and am thrilled about the opportunity to act as the Vice President of the Emp Alumni Fellowship and provide everyone with the support they need and deserve.”

Chris Locke (Treasurer): “I worked as an Emp from 2002-2007 in various roles; Store ʼ02-ʻ03, Driver ʻ04, Lifeguard 05ʼ-06ʼ, and Accounting Intern ʼ07. I’m from a family full of former Emps and currently work as the tax/investment manager for a private family office in Vero Beach, Florida. I’m excited to reconnect with the Silver Bay community and fellow EMP alumni.”

Sue Healy (Secretary): “I worked as a front desk Emp in '78 and '79, and in administration in '80. I returned to Silver Bay in '82 and worked on the year-round staff as the Personnel Coordinator until 1986. I'm looking forward to returning to my Y-roots at Silver Bay and volunteering my efforts on behalf of the Emps.”

I’m delighted to report that Kathleen Leonard was elected EAF President at our recent annual meeting. I’ll continue on as Treasurer. Carolyn Close gave an in-depth state of the Bay report and we discussed deadlines for and promotion of the EAF Scholarship. Finally, we voted to purchase four new Adirondack-style chairs for the ERC. Congratulations Kathleen and thanks to everyone who participated.

A former Emp asked if they owed EAF dues. In a word, yes. By now, everyone owes EAF dues. Dues are $10 / year. Send a check to Silver Bay (87 Silver Bay Rd., Silver Bay, NY 12874), mark it “EAF dues” in the memo line, and you’re set for another year. Make an additional donation to the EAF Scholarship Fund and you’ll be helping award recipients with their college expenses. Easy peasy. And thanks.
