We're thrilled to announce the winners of our annual Peace Poster contest for 6th-7th graders-both of whom this year are from St. Francis School here in Sikeston. Our first place award went to Victor Martinez, while Katie Shaw Collier came in a close second! Lions club member and Peace Poster chairperson Reverend Jennifer Moxley presented the awards. Congratulations Katie and Victor!

Sikeston Public Schools Foundation director Jeannie Lingle visited the club today and spoke to the members about how the foundation benefits local schools and the students. The club voted to make a donation to further the goals of the foundation.

Sikeston Lions were paid a visit by past District Governor Scott Sattler from Perryville today. He’s currently a secretary of the Saving Sight organization, which provides services to those with vision issues in a large part of the state of Missouri. Sikeston members were able to see some of the latest cutting edge work and research that is being done for treatment of eye injuries and diseases.

At the conclusion of the presentation by the Scouts, club members in attendance voted to make a donation to help fund their scuba diving trip to Florida this coming June.

David Overbey of the O.A.K.S. nutrition center in Sikeston was our first speaker of 2026 today and spoke to a large crowd of Lions! After his remarks the Club presented him a check for a contribution to be used to offset recent budget shortfalls at the center.

Marking 50 years of flavor, Sikeston Lions Club’s Chili and Super Chili Dog Day served hearty bowls and chili dogs as the Bootheel River Symphony played Christmas favorites.
