Friday Night Fun with the Washington Keokuk County Corn & Soybean Growers!

What a fantastic crowd and incredible support at Washington County Hospital and Clinics KidzFest! We loved sharing our agriculture story and were thrilled to have the Iowa Corn Mobile Education Trailer with us, giving families a fun, hands-on look at the many ways corn impacts our daily lives.

We were also amazed by all the ag knowledge kids and adults showed as they spun the CommonGround Iowa Ag Trivia Wheel.

This year, our board proudly renamed our scholarship in memory of longtime board member Dick Gallagher, whose vision, leadership, and dedication were instrumental in establishing our organization. Dick's passion for agriculture and commitment to inspiring future generations of agricultural leaders left a lasting impact on our communities.

In his honor, we are proud to award six $1,000 Dick Gallagher Memorial Washington Keokuk County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarships. With a record number of applicants this year, selecting recipients was no easy task, but we are excited to recognize six exceptional students who represent the bright future of agriculture.

🌽 Gavin Sieren, Keota – Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry, University of Iowa

Congratulations to Sigourney High School senior Brayden Wood!

Brayden received a $1,000 Dick Gallagher Memorial Washington Keokuk County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship during Sigourney High School Senior Awards Night. This scholarship honors longtime board member Dick Gallagher, whose passion for agriculture and future leaders helped shape our organization.

🌽 Brayden has been actively involved in agriculture and his community and plans to study Agricultural Systems Technology at Iowa State University. His goal is to build a career in this field while supporting and contributing to his family’s farming operation.

We are proud to support this outstanding student and look forward to the impact he will make in agriculture and beyond!

Congratulations to Washington High School seniors Presley Hora, Blake Sheetz, and Isabelle Peterson!

Each student received a $1,000 Dick Gallagher Memorial Washington Keokuk County Corn & Soybean Growers Scholarship during Washington High School Senior Awards Night. This scholarship honors longtime board member Dick Gallagher, whose passion for agriculture and future leaders helped shape our organization.

These students have been actively involved in agriculture and their communities:

🌽 Presley plans to study Agricultural Education at Kirkwood Community College and Iowa State University, with the goal of becoming a Vo-Ag teacher and FFA advisor in Washington County.

🌽 Blake plans to attend Kirkwood Community College before transferring to a four-year institution to study Agribusiness. His goal is to build a full-time career in agriculture while continuing to farm.

🌽 Isabelle plans to study Animal Science with a focus on bovine production and Agribusiness at Kansas State University. She hopes to build a hands-on livestock career while supporting her family’s cow-calf operation.

We are proud to support these outstanding students and look forward to the impact they will make in agriculture and beyond!
