Our Food Pantry shelves are running very low!

We could use your help restocking some much-needed items! While we are grateful for every donation, some pantry staples are donated less frequently, making them especially important to keep on our shelves.

Current needs:

* Paper towels
* Taco meal kits
* Muffin mix
* Spaghetti sauce
* Pancake mix

Every donation, big or small, helps us support local families in our community. If you’re shopping this week, consider picking up an extra item or two for our pantry. Your generosity makes a difference!

A BIG thank-you to our anonymous pumpkin donor!

The timing couldn’t be more perfect! Our Mini Makers Art Club Halloween party is happening this Wednesday, and these pumpkins will be such a fun addition to the celebration!

A BIG THANK YOU TO WALDEN CIVIC LEAGUE – SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN!

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Walden Civic League and the Smoke on the Mountain team for generously sharing their extra BBQ, buns, and sauce with families served by Signal Mountain Social Services!

The event was a great success, and we are so grateful that some of that delicious food could be shared with our families.

A special thank-you to Mark Dwyer for reaching out to us and for the long hours and hard work that went into preparing such incredible food. And a huge shout-out to Mark, David Soloff, Allen Fethe, and the entire all-night smoker crew, along with the many volunteers who helped make this event a success!

It’s people like you who make our community such a special place to live. Thank you for your generosity, your hard work, and for remembering our families. We appreciate you!

TODAY’S FIRE PREVENTION OPEN HOUSE IS MOVING INDOORS!

Due to the weather, today’s Fire Prevention Open House will be moving indoors, but the fun is still on!

Today, Saturday, October 10
4:00 PM – 8:00 PM est

Come join us for an evening of great food, fun, and community!

Come hungry! BBQ, burgers, hot dogs, chips, and nachos will be available for purchase. Grab a plate and enjoy dinner with us!

Our community never ceases to amaze us!

Whenever we share a post about items needed in our food pantry, we are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the response.

You see a need, and you show up. You bring bags of groceries, boxes of pantry staples, and the everyday essentials that help keep our shelves stocked and our pantry ready to serve our neighbors.

Every donation may seem like a small thing, but together, those small acts of kindness make a big difference for the families who walk through our doors.

Thank you for continuing to listen, give, share our posts, and support the work happening at Signal Mountain Social Services. We truly could not do it without you!

A Saturday well spent!

We are incredibly grateful to the four men from Mountain Ministries who spent their Saturday helping make a senior client’s home safer.

Our client recently called our office because the bathroom floor had become so soft that she was afraid she might fall through it. After a plumber was at the home and encouraged her to have the floor repaired, we were able to connect her with a team willing to take on the job.

And what a job it turned out to be! They joked that it was like “peeling back an onion” to discover just how many layers were underneath the tile.

Together, these four men put in 80 person-hours replacing the subfloor and flooring in the bathroom, giving our client a much safer place to walk and a little more peace of mind in her own home.

We are so thankful for the time, commitment, hard work, and compassion that Mountain Ministries continues to pour into projects like this. These repairs are about more than floors and homes, they are about helping our clients feel safe, secure, and cared for.

What a wonderful success!

A huge thank-you to 517 Subs for making the pet food drive they hosted such a success! They collected an incredible amount of pet food to help support our clients and their furry family members.

For many of the people we serve, pets are so much more than pets. They are companions, sources of comfort, and beloved members of the family. Being able to keep a pet well-fed can make a meaningful difference for a family that may already be facing difficult choices.

Because of the generosity of our community, our clients will have a little extra help caring for the animals they love.

Thank you, 517 Subs, Sara, Russ and the staff, for helping make sure no family member gets left behind!

We’re always grateful for our community’s generosity and support of our Food Pantry. If you’d like to help, here are some of the items we’re currently in need of:

Mini Makers Art Club!

Every week, our 2nd–4th grade Mini Makers come together for an hour and a half filled with snacks, activities, arts, crafts, creativity, and lots of fun!

But Mini Makers is about more than making art. It’s a place where kids can make new friends, try new things, express themselves, build confidence, and simply enjoy being kids in a safe and welcoming environment.

We love watching these young artists encourage one another, laugh together, and discover just how creative they can be.

And we are incredibly thankful for our amazing volunteers who make Mini Makers possible. Your time, creativity, patience, and encouragement mean so much to these kids. We truly could not do it without you!

SMSS Scholarship Opportunity - Applications due October 1st
Signal Mountain Social Services is proud to support education and career growth in our community. The SMSS Scholarship is available to individuals who live in the 37377 Zip Code, who are experiencing a financial barrier, and are working toward continuing their education.
This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors planning to attend a traditional college, community college, or trade school, as well as adults in our community who have decided to return to school or pursue a trade or career training program.
At SMSS, we believe it's never too early, or too late to invest in education.
Whether you are graduating this year or taking a brave step back into the classroom later in life, we want to support you as you work toward your goals!
Education and skill-building strengthen individuals, families, and our entire community.
If you live in 37377 and are planning to continue your education or training, we encourage you to apply.
