Carvin Jones’ connection to the Buffalo Soldier legacy makes this loss especially meaningful to me. In May 2024, Carvin performed at Ranchfest in Tombstone, Arizona, an event that also honored the history of the Buffalo Soldiers of the 9th and 10th Cavalries and their enduring connection to Fort Huachuca. That history touches my heart deeply because my father, SGM (Ret.) Harlan L. Bradford, Sr., proudly carried forward that legacy as a Buffalo Soldier.
Carvin was also the last artist my Dad saw in concert in 2022. Dad absolutely loved the performance, and one of the most unforgettable moments came when Carvin invited him on stage. Dad was thrilled.
When I think of Carvin, I don’t just think about an extraordinary guitarist. I think about the man whose music brought my father joy—and whose kindness gave him a moment in the spotlight that our family will always remember.
Thank you, Carvin, for the music. Thank you for the memory. And thank you for giving my Dad one more reason to smile.
Some performances end when the last note is played.
Others live on forever. ❤️🎸
