Since November 2014, our Chapter has signed up with Wreaths Across America (WAA) to sponsor live wreaths for the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery (SAVMC). Our mission is to honor veterans and support their families by sponsoring as many live wreaths as possible. Our Chapter signed up as a service project rather than a fundraiser, therefore we receive money towards a purchase of another wreath each time one is purchased through our website.
There are several ways you can help us donate as many wreaths as possible and support this cause. You can sponsor a live wreath via our website for SAVMC, send one to another cemetery, or have one delivered to a home to honor a veteran. (each of these purchases also adds towards the purchase of another wreath) Sharing our website with others also helps. No need to donate cash,you can also choose to help by donating your time. There is prep work on the wreaths that have been in storage all year, set up on wreath day, participation in the WAA ceremony, cleanup after the holiday.
Please remember to use our website when purchasing wreaths or sharing with others this ensures the wreaths go to SAVMC.
There always seems to be confusion on live wreaths vs the artificial. SAVMC has artificial wreaths to fill in since there are never enough live wreaths. This ensures each site has a wreath. Purchasing a live wreath through WAA with a specific grave site listed guarantees a live wreath will be placed at that site by the staff at the cemetery or the person who donated.
