10/05/2026

Thanks to you all, we had one of the best 2 day half-price sales we can remember! Thank you for shopping at the Little Library Bookstore and supporting our Sierra Vista Library. Now it's time for our longer running All Month Long Sale, from 5 - 31 October. This month's featured author is Anne Perry.

Anne was born Juliet Hulme in October 1938 in the UK, died April 2023 in California. Juliet lived in Christchurch, New Zealand and at the age of 15 she and a friend killed the friend's mother. Both juveniles were sentenced to 5 years in prison. Upon release she changed her name to Anne Perry. These events formed the basis of the 1994 film "Heavenly Creatures" staring Melanie Lynskey and Kate Winslet. Anne Perry is the author of historical crime novels featuring Thomas Pitt and William Monk.

Also on sale for the entire month are religious books, and a genre we call All Things Halloween. What is All Things Halloween? It is books and DVDs about haunted houses and places, ghosts, the supernatural, the unexplained, the eerie & scary; some authors would be King, Koontz, Coates, Rice, Shirley Jackson and Crichton. DVDs might feature themes of horror and terror, vampires, Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolfman, things that go bump in the night; films by Carpenter, King, Crichton, Landis, George Romero, and Hammer Studios of England. You get the idea - All Things Halloween!

For both religious and Halloween themed books, the price will be 50¢ for hardbacks and 25¢ for softbacks; Halloween themed DVDs will be 50¢ each. The sale will run from 5 October through 31 October. Our hours are M-F 10am to 4pm; Sat 10am to 3:15pm. Happy Halloween!

Fantastic! Thank you City of Sierra Vista Library for all you do for our community, especially our young readers! 🤗

The library would like to thank the Little Library Bookstore Friends Group. Due to their recent generous donation, the youth department was able to upgrade the educational computers in the children’s area for early learners. Thank you and please support them in the building right next to the library whenever you visit!

Recently we received a donation that included some audio books on cassette tape, and a few movies on VHS tape. We normally don't sell tapes of any kind - there is just no demand for them anymore. However, some of these might be of interest to collectors or fans of the books/movies.

The audio books on cassette include: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone; JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion; Stephen King's Dolores Claiborne; The Best of Classics that includes The Call of the Wild, The Godfather, & The Time Machine; and CBS's 60 Greatest Old-Time Radio Shows. All are complete except for the CBS collection, which is missing 3 out of 20 Cassettes.

The movies on VHS include: Star Wars Trilogy; Doctor Zhivago; and The Flying Deuces (Laurel & Hardy).

We are offering these items - any or all - for a donation of your choice . . . . you decide the amount you will donate.

If interested, reply via this page or stop in the store Thursday afternoon (1 pm to 3:30 pm) or Saturday afternoon (1 pm to 3 pm). Those are the only days and times these items will be available to view or purchase.

It's a new month - time for some new specials. This month we are featuring the works of Tom Clancy, and the Humor genre. (We need some balance here.) As many of you know, Tom Clancy (Born in Maryland April 1947 - October 2013) is the author of the Jack Ryan series of novels, just to name one of his series. His many Techno-Thriller-Action series center on espionage and military science and capabilities, and the various political aspects. Many of his novels became movies, TV series, and Video games. Some of his notable movie adaptations include The Hunt for Red October (Alec Baldwin & Sean Connery), Patriot Games (Harrison Ford), Clear and Present Danger (Harrison Ford), and The Sum of All Fears (Ben Affleck). So check out our Clancy and Humor sections. Hardbacks are 50¢ and softbacks are 25¢ through the end of the month.
