Sierra Madre Elementary School Annual Fund Boosters A place to stay updated on all things AFB (Annual Fund Boosters). AFB funds are used to supplement District funds and provide enrichment.

All parents are welcome to volunteer to help our school raise funds for programs and staff that aren't otherwise covered by the district. Annual Fund Boosters (AFB) is an organization designed for the sole purpose of raising money for the Sierra Madre Elementary School, a California Gold Ribbon School. For the 2022-2023 school year, AFB funds will pay for at least the following positions (in full

or in part): Music Teacher, Library Coordinator, Visual and Performing Arts Specialists, Behavioral Aide, Recreation/Noon Aides, and Enrichment Specialists for PE, Coding, STEAM and Spanish Through Art. The fundraising goal for the 2023-2024 school year is $220,000 in net proceeds. The SME AFB Annual Auction isn’t just the biggest parent party of the year... This year, it’s our Stairway to Heaven. The annual auction is how we keep the amps plugged in and the magic alive at SME, funding programs like garden, art, music, and more.

This year we’re throwing a Headbanger’s Ball, because subtlety is boring. Punk, metal, psychedelic, classic rock, grunge, pop, glam, indie, emo, ska, folk… and the guys from the ’80s with giant hair. From The Beatles to Metallica, Aerosmith to Nirvana, AC/DC to The Cure, Ozzy Osbourne to Stevie Nicks, and Green Day to blink-182.... there is no wrong way to rock. If it makes noise and bad decisions, it belongs here. And every rockstar loves to boogie, so when it's time to hit the dancefloor, all genres are fair game.

Or maybe it's "metal couture," fresh off the runway from Hot Topic's first ever Paris Fashion Week show. Or maybe you're David Bowie and Alanis Morisette's long lost baby. We’ll all be judging this year because we're having our first auction constume contest, with a radical prize.

It’s almost time for SME AFB’s Annual Auction & Dinner and this year’s event will have you asking what’s my age again?

No panicking at this disco; it’s just a night of community, dancing, and fundraising for our SME and all the small things it does for our kids.

Tickets include dinner and an open bar (but by the time we turn the lights off, hopefully nobody’s saying carry me home). Things might get a little sweaty on the dance floor, so be sure to wear some deodorant… may we suggest Teen Spirit (or something that smells like it…)

The menu? TBD, maybe barracuda…

As for the venue, you’ve been there before. But we’ve got plans to transform it so completely, you might as well be on the dark side of the moon.
