Young people thrive when support comes early. 💚

Encouraging open and honest conversations about mental health can help children and teens feel safe reaching out when they are struggling.

Listening without judgment, checking in regularly, and reminding young people that their feelings matter can make a lasting difference.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is create an environment where asking for help feels normal and not scary.

Support early.
Listen often.
Remind them they are never alone.

Had the opportunity this morning to stop by PlainsWest CASA this morning and talk with some of the riders going through our state to deliver letters to the state capital.
Very awesome awareness project they do every single year. They said that during their meetings, they will take a few letters and read them aloud.

🏍️💙 The Pony Express Riders are rolling into Sidney tomorrow!

For the past 19 years, these incredible riders have traveled across Nebraska, raising awareness for Children’s Mental Health and collecting letters that are personally delivered to the Nebraska State Capitol.

📍 Stop by PlainsWest CASA tomorrow morning!
⏰ Riders arrive around 8:50 AM
☕ Coffee & doughnuts will be ready!

Come meet the riders, cheer them on, and help support an important cause that impacts children and families across our communities.

Want to participate but can’t make it? You can still send a letter! Drop one off at our office or email it to us, and we’ll happily print it for the ride. Templates are available, or feel free to write your own message from the heart.

Every story matters. Every voice matters. Every child matters. 💙

May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Veterans living in rural America face a significantly higher su***de risk than veterans in urban areas. That matters deeply in places like western Nebraska where distance, isolation, and limited resources are real factors.

▪️Rural veterans have about a 20–22% higher su***de risk than urban veterans.
▪️About 61% of veterans who died by su***de in 2023 were not receiving VA healthcare services in the prior year.
▪️Nebraska veteran su***de rate in 2021 was 36.4 per 100,000

In our rural communities, many people are used to being the strong one, the helper, the provider, the one who “pushes through.” But strength also means knowing when it is time to talk, check in on someone, or ask for help yourself. You do not have to have all the answers to support someone. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is listen without judgment and remind them they are not alone.

Support saves lives. Connection matters. Conversations matter.

A Nebraska veteran is walking hundreds of miles across the state in an effort to raise awareness about the increase in su***des and encourage people to look out for one another.

Mother’s Day can hold many emotions.
For some, it’s joyful. For some, it’s painful. For some, it’s a reminder of loss, grief, strained relationships, infertility, or someone deeply missed.

Today, we want to simply remind you that however this day feels for you, you are not alone.

To the moms carrying heavy loads quietly, to those grieving children or mothers, to the women who step into nurturing roles without recognition, and to anyone struggling today while trying to smile through it… we see you.

Be gentle with yourself today.
Take the picture. Make the call. Rest when you need to. Cry if you need to. Laugh when you can.

And if today feels especially heavy, please reach out to someone. Connection matters. You matter. 💛

With love,
Be Here Su***de Awareness & Prevention Group

Thank you to every parent, student, teacher, and community member who showed up for Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age tonight!
Your openness to learn, listen, and talk about what our families are facing in this digital world matters more than you know.

Together, we’re breaking the silence, finding balance, and reminding each other that connection offline still matters most.
