Today is Endangered Species Day!

The Bog Turtle is one of New Jersey’s endangered species, and it is also New Jersey’s official state reptile. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service lists the Bog Turtle as federally threatened and it’s one of the rarest turtles in the United States. This secretive, palm-sized turtle is now found in as few as nine counties, such as the rural areas of Sussex, Warren and Salem. Bog turtles have very specific habitat needs and populations are sensitive to changes in their environment.

the local fishing community has lost another great young man. Quintin Weigle passed away Friday. Anybody that goes to greenhorn bait and tackle in Pennsville ( formally Shags)has seen Quintin. Our sympathy goes out to the family. RIP young man.

I am looking for someone to take over our program and get it back to the wonderful program it once was. As many of you know when I started this program, I was going to retire and move south in 5 years. Well I’m a little late but the time has now come. I am selling my house hopefully by the end of the month. I will be able to help the right person get started but will not be able to be as active as I was.
