EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT, RISK FOR SEVERE STORMS AGAIN TODAY & COOLING CENTERS ARE AVAILABLE

An EXTREME HEAT WARNING remains in effect through Friday evening for Washington County. Additional heat advisories will likely be needed on Saturday for some lower elevation areas. Isolated to scattered strong to severe storms are possible each afternoon/evening today through Saturday - the main threat for the storms continues to be damaging winds, but isolated large hail is also possible. All storms could produce frequent cloud to ground lightning and locally heavy downpours.

HEAT RISK IMPACTS
NWS Heat Risk impacts reach the Extreme Category (level 4 of 4) today and Friday due to the cumulative effects of extreme heat with little relief overnight and back to Major (level 3 of 4) again for Saturday. Anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration will be impacted, as well as possible impacts for health systems and industries. So... What is the NWS HeatRisk? STAYING SAFE IN THE HEAT
❄️ Stay Cool: Find a cool spot with AC or stay cool in a pool
💦 Stay Hydrated: Drink, drink, DRINK

🩳 Summer Clothes: Bust 'em out, light clothing is best
🚗 Check the Car: NEVER leave your child or pet in the car, too hot
🐕‍🦺 Remember your Pets: Bring 'em in, it'll be too hot!
🤝 Help Others: Check on your neighbors, friends and family!
🚨 Stay Heat Safe: Heat Related illnesses can be EMERGENCIES!

EXTREME HEAT PLANNING FOR EMPLOYERS / ORGANIZATION LEADERS
Employers / Organization leaders - please ensure those within your organizations that may be assigned to outdoor work and/or any events you may have scheduled during the extreme heat are aware and prepared for the elevated temps, heat index and potential for severe weather. Additionally, for those with employees assigned to outdoor work / operations, the New York State Department of Labor has issued Employer Guidance on Protecting Outdoor Workers from Extreme Weather / Heat - organization leaders should review the guidance and plan accordingly for and with your field personnel. This volunteer organization runs pop-up clinics across the United States and is fueled by donations and driven by volunteers.

Enrolled in Medicaid? Comfort Food Community has a healthy food program for you! 🥗 🥕 🥛

Could you use a little extra support accessing healthy food? You're not alone!

If you’re currently enrolled in Medicaid, you may be eligible for an enhanced PRx program through the Social Care Network led by Healthy Alliance and offered by Comfort Food Community.

Participants can receive weekly vouchers by mail for up to six months—helping provide three healthy meals a day, seven days a week. Vouchers can be used on fresh produce, protein, dairy, grains, and other nourishing foods at participating farmers’ markets, farm stands, and local grocery stores/co-ops across Washington County and parts of Saratoga and Warren counties.

Thank you to everyone who made this weekend’s free healthcare clinic a success!

In gratitude for:
~ for coming in from TN with all the medical equipment and core volunteers to run this clinic - What a talented, professional and caring crew.
~ All our local volunteers - Doctors, nurses, PAs, PTs, translators, students, general help who were ready to do everything from hauling equipment, making delicious food and serving the volunteers, welcoming patients, doing data entry, etc - who all really showed up for all the patients this weekend. *SO many new faces!*
~ Our host location, Schuylerville Central School, whose facilities manager, custodial and kitchen staff went over and above to welcome and take care of our needs so we could take care of the community.
~ The over 300 patients who showed up for health care for themselves, their family, community members and friends.
~ Our sponsors whose generosity allows us to host this yearly clinic.
~ The community resource groups who set up and offered information and resources to patients all weekend.

It’s the last day of our clinic! Get there early! Doors open at 6 AM. Last new patient is let in at around 11 am, then we’ll finish up with patients inside and then we clean up and RAM trucks of equipment will get on the road.
