Concerned Citizens of Shubuta

Another old home in SHUBUTA has burned down. It was not just a house, but a home. I, Jerry D Mason have called this place home since 1971 when my dad retired from the Air Force. I was born in Alaska, lived in Texas, then Spain before settling in Shubuta. My parents both graduated from Shubuta. My roots are strong in Shubuta. Being both a historian and a genealoigist I have researched the history of Shubuta, and the early settlers of the area. Shubuta is my home. I love Shubuta
And I am not leaving. Not sure where I will be resting my head along with my fur-babies, but right now with help, love and support of my neighbors and friends and have a roof over my head.
I lost almost everything. I buried one of my pets, Beau, in my family pet cemetery along Lil Bit. But I want the people of Shubuta to know I will be here and hopefully you will see me back to riding around with my pets picking up trash.
And THANKS to all that showed up to help on Easter Day to help keep my neighbors houses ok

Shubuta has lost a citizen. Betty Chapman passed away in Meridian yesterday. She will be missed.

Great. Sewage is being pumped out of this manhole in Pecan Grove sub division in Shubuta, Mississippi. Several citizens of Shubuta have voiced their concerns over this. This is a step forward in getting rid of the smell in this area. Also was informed a board member was giving out bottles of bleach to help with that. If you feel nothing is being done in a timely matter by our town, voice your concern to the Board Members. If you feel that doesn't help, you can contact MDEQ ( https://www.mdeq.ms.gov/ ) by website or 601-961-5171. Board meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at City Hall's Board Room @ 5:00p.m.
