What We Do

Food Collection and Distribution - WCFB collects and inspects perishable and non-perishable food and distributes it through a network of 138 partner agencies to help feed hungry people living in all 60 cities and towns of Worcester County. Food Safety - WCFB trains partner agencies in food safety using a curriculum designed by a registered dietician that incorporates dates, transportat

ion, storage, sanitation, food labels, and time and temperatures. WCFB also provides the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification course, which is recognized by more federal, state, and local health jurisdictions than any other food safety program in the United States. Advocacy - WCFB believes that food is a fundamental right of all people and that hunger is an issue of social justice. WCFB is a leading advocate for promoting access to healthy food by improving the quality of school breakfast and lunch, expanding the summer food service program, and increasing funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP, formerly known as Food Stamps. These systemic and sustainable solutions support children, families, and senior citizens in being more food secure and healthy. Our Impact - Food is the most basic of human needs. Community support makes it possible for tens of thousands of people in Worcester County to count on WCFB and our network of partner agencies for their next meal. Last year, WCFB distributed 5.4 million pounds of donated food and grocery product, enough for more than 4.5 million meals. The food was distributed to 138 partner agencies in Worcester County that provided it to nearly 104,500 different people.

One more reason to ❤️ Worcester Public Library! We know that home gardens aren't going to fill the gap in your fridge left by high food prices - but we also know that growing things helps build a special connection to nature, especially for kids. Thanks, WPL for all you do!

Join us for our seed library grand opening on Friday, June 12th from 11-1! Free giveaways (while supplies last) include spider plants, soil scoops, nursery pots, and fairy garden kits to go! Learn about our Library of Things gardening collection, how the WPL seed library will work, and more!

We are so grateful to Rose at New England Recovery Center for nominating Worcester County Food Bank for the Spectrum Health Systems Community Impact Grant; and for Spectrum's support of WCFB's work! We can only do this work with community support and it is always great to meet community members who help us to amplify and support what we do to get good food to our neighbors!

We're super happy to be able to add a new resource to the Lincoln Village neighborhood. After losing their Stop & Shop last year, the area has had fewer available food resources than necessary. WCFB is happy to partner with EBS as they open their second food pantry in Worcester.

On Friday, our warehouse crew planted more than 700 lettuce plants and more than 400 grape tomato plants at Community Harvest Project.

In 2025, we received 82,964 pounds of produce from CHP. We are excited to see what we receive in 2026!
