On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918, fighting in WWI officially ended. President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed legislation that changed the federal holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day in 1954.

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served! You’re loyalty and sacrifice will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

STMC volunteers Anita Nixon and Kathy Mazzacco were invited guests at the Seabrook Community's Veterans Group meeting on October 18, 2024. Four World War II veterans were presented with DAR certificates of appreciation and Quilts of Valor for their service during WWII. Thank you to Veterans Group president Gary Baldwin for inviting us to hold the ceremony at the veterans' meeting!

Wreaths Across America! Not only did our chapter become a sponsor (we accounted for over 90 wreaths donated that went to the under-served Fairview Cemetery), but we also attended two of the local WAA ceremonies. This year's events were much more comfortable than in 2020 - when the snow and ice made the day very daunting for many.

So many members helped with this fence-painting project! It took weeks of planning, preparation & coordination. Several pickets had rotted away, some were splintered and needed repair, all had to be scraped and sanded (and that was before the primer went on!). So pleased that we were able to 'rally the troops' to paint and paint - got two of the four sides completed before a big historical event. Now ... when spring arrives, we'll be able to finish the other two sides.

A memorable weekend as chapter members organized two grave marker dedication ceremonies. Lovely to have the support of some SAR members - as well as two color guards (from local Scout troops). Lots of research and planning went into organizing these events - and the results were exemplary!

Did you ring a bell today for Constitution Day? Actually, it's from September 17-23 so try to find something to chime - and send us a picture! One suggestion: can't find a bell? How about ringing your door bell!

Never Forget. 🇺🇸
2,977 lives lost.
20 years.
♦️▫️🔹
Please take a moment today to remember those who lost their lives on that fateful Tuesday, to honor the first responders who ran into the Twin Towers that day to save others, the loved ones that were left to grieve their deaths, and those who sacrifice so much to defend the United States of America every day.

Today we remember.
