What's new at WAM?

Our latest exhibition features the stunning art of local artist and winner of Sally R. Bishop Prize Winner of the 2019 ArtsWorcester Biennial, Susan Swinand!

"Nature Imagined" - on view through February 7, 2021 - explores Swinand's creative process and her drive to find balance between opposing forces in nature. By allowing the materials to take on a form of their own, Swinand taps into her subconscious to make meaning out of biomorphic shapes and fluid gestures, creating imaginative worlds full of contradictions, enchantment, and even a little bit of humor.

You can also see her works on display at the Worcester Center for Crafts in their show, "Fluid/Solid" and learn more about Susan on her website, https://www.swinand.com/ or follow her Susan McBriarty Swinand

Randy is a great teacher, so should have some interesting thoughts.

“Whether as a pastime, or as a consistent way of life, we can find solace and advantage through art.”

Wise words from Randy LeSage, who has taught at WAM for more than 25 years. Last year, Randy was featured in WAM’s Central Massachusetts Artist Initiative (CMAI). The Museum featured his four-part series Departure, which represented a new direction in his work with a focus on New England’s industrial heritage and its effects on the landscape. In our latest WAM Update, Randy reflects upon the effects of coronavirus on his practice and offers sage advice on freeing the artist within. bit.ly/3aD8lUs
