nāmābhāsa haite haya sarva-pāpa-kṣaya

nāma-ābhāsa haite—from the vibration of nāmābhāsa; haya—is; sarva-pāpa—of all reactions to sins; kṣaya—destruction;

Nāmācārya Haridāsa Ṭhākura continued, "If one offenselessly utters the holy name even imperfectly, one can be freed from all the results of sinful life."

By offenseless chanting and hearing of the holy name of the Lord, one becomes acquainted with the transcendental form of the Lord, and then with the attributes of the Lord, and then with the transcendental nature of His pastimes, etc. Here it is mentioned that one should constantly chant the holy name of the Lord after hearing it from authorities. This means that hearing from the authorities is the first essential. Hearing of the holy name gradually promotes one to the stage of hearing about His form, about His attributes, His pastimes and so on, and thus the necessity of the chanting of His glories develops successively. This process is recommended not only for the successful ex*****on of devotional service, but also even for those who are materially attached.

Śrīla Prabhupāda’s System of Initiation | Ritvik Harināma Dīkṣā Ceremony

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, six devotees received initiation at Sri Sri Radha Damodara Mandir in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. Of these, three received Harināma Dīkṣā and three received Brahminical initiation.

The ceremony was conducted on behalf of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Śrīla Prabhupāda, the Founder-Ācārya of ISKCON, in accordance with the ritvik system of initiation outlined in his July 9, 1977 letter. The devotees took sacred vows and received their spiritual names, marking an important milestone in their spiritual journeys.

nedaṁ yaśo raghupateḥ sura-yācñayātta-
līlā-tanor adhika-sāmya-vimukta-dhāmnaḥ
rakṣo-vadho jaladhi-bandhanam astra-pūgaiḥ
kiṁ tasya śatru-hanane kapayaḥ sahāyāḥ

Lord Rāmacandra's reputation for having killed Rāvaṇa with showers of arrows at the request of the demigods and for having built a bridge over the ocean does not constitute the factual glory of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Rāmacandra, whose spiritual body is always engaged in various pastimes. Lord Rāmacandra has no equal or superior, and therefore He had no need to take help from the monkeys to gain victory over Rāvaṇa. [SB 9.11.20]
