According to LaVEX 2025, 1 in 13 Louisiana adults experienced physical violence in the past year. Men were also more likely than women to experience gun violence.

Behind every statistic is a real person. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, let’s turn awareness into action and continue working toward safer communities.

Yesterday, we had the privilege to attend and participate in the Fourth Annual Wear Purple Walk and Resource Fair hosted by Overton Brooks VA Medical Center 💜 This is always such an amazing event dedicated to raising awareness on domestic violence and providing resources to survivors in our community.

Many Taskforce members were in attendance yesterday, wore their purple, and stood in solidarity against domestic violence.

We want to give a special shoutout to our very own taskforce member, Detective Kelly Downey with the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office for her incredible keynote speech.

We are so proud of the work our community is continuing to do to combat domestic violence! 💜💜

Today, we wear purple to stand in solidarity with survivors of domestic violence, honor their strength, remember those whose lives have been lost, and remind every survivor that they are not alone.

Domestic violence affects individuals, families, and communities, but together, we can make a difference.
