Gingerbread House Gingerbread House CAC serves child victims of abuse &
child witnesses of violent crimes. Children's Advocacy Centers exist across the country.

Gingerbread House serves Caddo, Bossier, Webster, DeSoto, Bienville, Claiborne, Natchitoches, Red River, and Sabine Parishes and meets the top standards to be accredited by the National Children's Alliance. When someone reports a concern of abuse to the proper authorities, law enforcement and the Department of Child and Family Services, those agencies contact the Gingerbread House for an appointme

nt. The child is brought by a family member or caring adult other than the alleged offender. There a trained professional meets with the child and conducts a Forensic Interview to obtain crucial information. This is done in a child friendly setting with age appropriate, non-leading questions. After the interview, Law Enforcement and the District Attorneys office continues the criminal investigation and possible prosecution. The Department of Child and Family Services continues their component of the investigation regarding the child's safety and determines if the child is able to return home or must be placed in another location. Throughout this process, the Gingerbread House offers Family Advocacy and Counseling to the child. Community education presentations for children and adults are also available upon request. All services are provided free of charge.

Gingerbread House’s first Clay for a Cause: A Sporting Clay Event was yesterday, May 30th and we couldn’t have been more grateful for the turnout. Los Paloma Sporting Range & Event Center was the perfect host for our event and Ross Adams helped to ensure that the shooting ran seamlessly and safely.

To all of our teams, silver sponsors, and station sponsor - thank you for coming out and spending your Saturday morning with us! By doing so, you are showing your community that you stand with child abuse victims and you are helping their voices to be heard. Thank you!!

Clay for a Cause is THIS SATURDAY, May 30th, and we are excited!

These fun Gingerbread House merch items will make their debut at the shoot and will be available for purchase for $15 each. If we have any remaining after the event, they will be available on our website.

There’s still time to register your team for Clay for a Cause! We still have spots available and would love to have you join us for a great day all in support of child abuse victims in our community. Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

In observance of Memorial Day, the Gingerbread House will be closed today. We hope everyone has a safe and meaningful holiday as we reflect with gratitude and remembrance. ❤️💙 We will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, May 26 with normal operating hours.

A huge thank you to the CE Byrd High School National Honor Society for collecting much-needed supplies for the child victims we serve at the Gingerbread House.

While crayons, markers, Play-Doh, and notebooks may seem simple, these items play an important role in helping children feel supported and comfortable during difficult moments. These donations will be used throughout our Child Life rooms, Forensic Interview rooms, and even throughout out counseling sessions.

We are especially grateful for the students who took time, even in the middle of finals, graduation, and the busy end of the school year, to think of others and give back to other children and teens in our community. Your kindness, compassion, and generosity will make a meaningful impact.

Our hearts are heavy today. Rambo, our beloved therapy dog at the GBH for many years, crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday.

Rambo was a rockstar from day one. He passed his therapy dog certification with flying colors. At that point, he was not only a beloved member of Olivia’s family, but became a beloved and valuable member of Team GBH. Truly our MVP. Rambo was the quiet presence that gave hundreds of children the extra courage they needed to disclose horrific details of abuse no child should ever have to endure. He was so calm and so still during therapy sessions sometimes you forgot he was even there! Rambo had such a keen, intuitive nature that he knew precisely when one of our team members needed a little extra loving comfort and he would come into our offices and quietly sit at our feet or lay his sweet head on our laps. It was as if he knew we had just loaned some of our own courage and strength to a child in need and needed a little extra outpouring of love to fill up our empty love buckets.

Rambo had his own “office” at the GBH (check it out below) and kids would often leave him letters and sweet drawings in his mailbox. Rambo - you were loved SO BIG! ❤️

We have no doubt that he heard “well done good and faithful servant” upon crossing that rainbow bridge. Rest easy, sweet Rambo - you were such a good boy. We know you are enjoying countless treats.

Olivia - you and your precious family are in our prayers. We love you, Rambo!🌈🤍🐾
