Thank you to Krewe of Barkus and Meoux for helping with our old gal, Gertrude. We are so glad that we got her spayed when we did. Just goes to show you that getting the babies spayed should always be a priority regardless of their age.

🐾 Meet Gertrude, the latest recipient of a $250 Emergency Assistance Grant from the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux.

This sweet senior kitty was abandoned in front of Caddo Animal Control, very thin and in need of care. Companions of CPAS stepped in and took her to Progressive for treatment.

While helping Gertrude gain weight, her caregivers noticed she seemed to be in pain. She underwent an urgent spay, and according to her veterinary team, it happened just in time—she had hydrometra developing into potentially deadly pyometra.

We’re grateful to help with Gertrude’s care and thankful to everyone who stepped in when she needed them most. Sending prayers for a smooth recovery and brighter days for this precious girl. ❤️🐾

Our sweet Raspberry is back home and will be closely monitored. Thank you everyone who helped with this sweet girl and Thank you to the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux 💜💚💛

🐾 Meet Raspberry, the latest recipient of a $250 Emergency Assistance Grant from the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux.

Raspberry was returned to Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue after five years in her adoptive home because her family was moving. After treatment for respiratory and urinary tract infections, she became seriously ill and was rushed back to the vet.

She spent several days hospitalized with a severe UTI and high blood glucose, raising concerns about possible diabetes. She is now being closely monitored as she recovers.

Please keep this sweet girl in your thoughts and prayers. ❤️ Thank you to Shreveport Bossier Animal Rescue for caring for Raspberry and to our donors and supporters for making these grants possible! 🐾

Help us help an old lady have a clean box with fresh litter to do her business!

Help us restock our litter supply! Every bag donated means one less thing our rescue has to purchase and helps us put more of our funds toward veterinary care for the kitties who need us.

We aren't picky about brands. Any clumping brand that us humans can scoop will work! We go through over 50lbs per day so all clumping litter will be used and appreciated!!

You can drop off at the shelter, 431 Kings Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71104 or you can also purchase through our Amazon wish list or through our Chewy wish list and have it shipped directly to us. Also, Walmart will ship directly to us.

🐾❤️ ONE LAST PAWS IN THE PARK. ❤️🐾

After 10 incredible years, it’s time to share some bittersweet news.

The 10th Annual Paws in the Park will also be our FINAL Paws in the Park. 🐶🐱

For a decade, Paws in the Park has brought together animal lovers, families, rescues, local businesses, volunteers, and some pretty amazing four-legged friends for one big day dedicated to celebrating animals and supporting the organizations that care for them.

What started as an idea grew into something bigger and more special than we ever imagined. ❤️

Our directors are all volunteers with full-time careers, families, and commitments of our own. As Paws in the Park has grown, so has the time and work required to make it happen. After a lot of thought, we decided that 10 years is the perfect place to close this chapter.

But we’re not going quietly. 😉
