This past Friday, the LSU Board of Supervisors provided the next level of approval for LSU Health Shreveport’s Research Expansion Project. Thank you to the Supervisors, President Rousse, and Chancellor Dalton for supporting this project, which will breathe new life into the former Sears property at Mall St Vincent.

With this world-class research building, we are:

🧪Creating 181,000 sq ft of adaptive lab space
🧪Recruiting 40+ funded researchers to NWLA
🧪Boosting the local economy with an additional $75 million in annual economic development

Last week, we celebrated a historic day for the LSU Health Shreveport Department of Ophthalmology! We are excited to celebrate the establishment of the department’s first two endowments—a milestone that ensures a bright future for eye care, research, and education in our community.

🟣 The Clemons-Carmody Ophthalmology Resident Award: Established by Lynn and Stephen Yancey to honor the exceptional care provided by Dr. Carol Clemons, Dr. Mary Catherine Clemons, and Dr. John Carmody. This award will recognize outstanding achievement in our graduating residents.

🟡 The Catherine D. Lusk Memorial Endowed Professorship: Created by Dr. Jim Lusk in loving memory of his wife, Catherine. This prestigious honor, awarded to Dr. John Brinkley, will fuel innovation, research, and clinical excellence within the department.
