We extend our sincere appreciation to the men and women of the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office who stepped up this past Sunday. While the Shreveport Police Department faced one of the most difficult calls of their careers, CPSO deputies—many off duty—answered the call to serve, taking on additional 911 calls and ensuring the safety of our community.

In moments of chaos, when one agency is faced with the unimaginable, others step forward without hesitation. That is the true strength of the first responder community—standing shoulder to shoulder, answering the call for one another, regardless of patch, title, or jurisdiction.

This is more than service—it’s commitment, unity, and sacrifice. When it matters most, first responders take care of each other so they can continue taking care of everyone else.

When the tones drop, no matter the hour, no matter where they are or what they’re doing, they go. Fire trucks roll. Ambulances accelerate. Patrol units shift into drive without hesitation.

What is often unseen is what unfolds in those moments. While one 911 call is being processed, others are coming in simultaneously. Information is limited, details are unclear, and the level of danger is unknown. Emergency lights cut through the early morning darkness as sirens break the silence of a city just beginning to wake. Inside those vehicles are professionals maintaining composure on the outside, while internally preparing for whatever may lie ahead.

To the public, it may appear as another unit speeding down the road and question why. But behind that wheel are men and women running toward the worst moment of someone else’s life—knowing they are about to witness something they will carry forever.

First responders are trained to manage crisis and trauma, but no amount of training removes the human element. They are exposed to circumstances most will never experience, and they carry the weight of those scenes, faces, and moments well beyond the incident itself.

One life lost is devastating… but eight... children — it’s beyond comprehension. It is a level of tragedy that extends far beyond a single scene, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.

Despite this, they continue to respond. They continue to perform their duties. They hold the line regardless of conditions, resources, or emotional toll—because in those moments, someone must.

This is the reality of service. This is the cost of sacrifice. This is what it means to answer the call.

When the shift ends, they return home to their families carrying what they have witnessed—often without words, but never without impact. They may look into their spouses and kids eyes, and never forget what they last saw. These are not moments that simply fade; they are carried forward. The damage is much deeper than just one event.

To every single person who responded—thank you will never be enough. We see you. We stand with you. And we carry a piece of this with you. Pray for the families. Pray for the strength of those who answered that call. Pray for healing in a community that is hurting.

To our local heroes—we love you. Always.

🚨 BURN BAN IN EFFECT – CADDO PARISH 🚨

Dry conditions, wind, and heavy fuels mean ANY spark can turn into a fast-moving wildfire. What starts as a small burn pile or trash fire can quickly threaten homes, property, and lives.

🔥 No outdoor burning allowed
🔥 No burn barrels, debris piles, or yard waste fires
🔥 Avoid activities that create sparks (welding, grinding, dragging chains, etc.)
🔥 Properly discard ci******es and trailer chains

Our local fire agencies are already stretched thin — preventing fires protects our firefighters, equipment, and community.

Signal 51 Group stands ready to support responders when needed — but the best call is the one that never happens.

👉 Please share to help spread the word.
👉 Help protect your neighbors.
👉 Help keep Caddo Parish safe.

🚒 Throwback Thursday 🚒

Let's roll back nearly 60 years ago to 1966. Shreveport Fire Department’s Engine 1 was a 1961 Seagrave — built tough and ready to roll.

🚨 THROWBACK to the horse-drawn era! 🐎

Taking a step back into early Shreveport Fire Department history. With the help of AI, we’re able to colorize and enhance these historic photos to better visualize what the job looked like back in the day — and appreciate just how far the fire service has come, from hand-drawn hose wagons to today’s boldly painted rigs with high-tech digital pump panels.

As always, we honor the men and women who came before us. Their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice built the foundation of the fire service we proudly stand beside today.

This image captures the quiet professionalism of Shreveport Fire Department during one of the most challenging incidents in our history.

During the Red River tragedy on August 2, 2010, responders worked tirelessly in difficult conditions to bring closure to families.

We are sharing this photo to remember that day and to remind our community that much of Signal 51’s work happens quietly and behind the scenes — work that would not be possible without the continued support and generosity of our donors and community partners.

Signal 51 was proud to be on scene providing rehab supplies, hydration, and food throughout this recovery effort — standing beside our firefighters and ensuring they were supported while they carried out this heartbreaking mission.

This is what teamwork, dedication, and public service look like. We are grateful for every first responder who continues to answer the call—no matter the conditions. Signal 51 proudly stands behind you. 💙🚒🚔❤️
