Christa Hawkins and Tate Kendall had the chance to speak to the Caddo Parish Commissioners today about the Downtown to Home initiative that we are working on with four other amazing agencies! Together, we are going to house every unhoused person in the Downtown area by May 2027!! Thanks to the Commissioners for their interest in D2H and their commitment to solutions to homelessness in our area!

🚨 HUGE ASK: WE NEED 3 *electric* DRYERS! 🚨

Hey, friends! As most of you know, we operate a 37-bed Safe Haven and a Day Shelter where people living unhoused can come in to shower, do laundry, get connected to housing and other services, and simply have a safe place to be during the day.

Well… 3 out of our 4 dryers are officially down. 😭

As you can imagine, trying to keep up with laundry for our Safe Haven residents AND everyone using the Day Shelter with one working dryer is slowing things down tremendously.

So, we’re putting out a big ask to our community: we need 3 dryers!

If you or your business would be willing to donate a new or gently used dryer, sponsor the purchase of one, or help connect us with someone who can, we would be incredibly grateful. 💙

And even if a dryer isn’t in your donation budget today, sharing this post could help it reach someone who can help!

Oh, how we love an ✨informed✨ donor. 💙

We appreciate any & all donations, but this was so thoughtfully put together. Water, snacks, sunscreen, wipes, Band-Aids, socks, alcohol-free mouthwash… things that immediately will be put to use by those living unhoused.

Somebody understood the assignment. 👏💙

HOPE clients and staff had fun yesterday and learned a lot about the 988 Helpline! 988 isn’t just for those who are suicidal…it’s for any mental health crisis. In fact, everyone wrote down reasons they might call 988.
