🔗 Career Connection for Centenary Alumni🔗

A respected local nonprofit organization recently reached out to the Office of Alumni and Family Relations to see if we knew of any Centenary alumni who might be interested in an upcoming Accountant position.

The opportunity has not yet been publicly advertised, but we wanted to share it with our alumni community first. If you have an accounting background—or know a fellow Centenary graduate who might be a good fit—please send us a direct message or contact our office ([email protected]) for additional information.

One of the greatest strengths of the Centenary network is alumni helping alumni, and we're always glad to make those connections.

Alumni Spotlight✨

We’re proud to celebrate Steve Weddle ’92, who recently shared that he has begun a new role as Executive Director of the Virginia Press Association.

Steve is not only a passionate advocate for journalism and local news, he’s also an accomplished author whose novels have garnered national recognition.

His publications include 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭, which was praised by the New York Times as “downright dazzling,” and his novel 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦, an Amazon First Reads selection.

From a Centenary classroom to the Commonwealth of Virginia, Steve’s career is a powerful example of how stories can shape communities and create a lasting impact.

Congratulations on this exciting new chapter, Steve!

We are so excited to have alumna Lynette Roberson back in our Shreveport community! If you and your family are looking for fun, educational activities this summer, check out what Shreve Memorial Library has going on!

Meet Shreve Memorial Library's new Executive Director!

After a nationwide search, SML is excited to welcome Lynette Roberson as our new Executive Director. A native of Shreveport and a lifelong lover of libraries, Lynette comes to Shreve Memorial Library with a wealth of knowledge and library experience, most recently as the Director of the Irving Public Library.

“We are excited to welcome Lynette Roberson as our new Executive Director,” stated Don Howard, Shreve Memorial Library Board of Control President. “Lynette arrives with a distinguished track record of visionary leadership, particularly known for her ability to modernize library systems while maintaining a deep, steadfast commitment to community-focused outreach.”

Tezeno Lynette Roberson holds a Master of Library Science and a Certificate in Advanced Management in Libraries and Information Agencies from the University of North Texas. Throughout her career, she has served as the Director of the Irving Public Library (2022 – 2026), Managing Director of Little Elm Public Library (2016 – 2022), and Branch Manager and District Manager of the Dallas Public Library (2010 – 2016). Lynette is also a 2006 American Library Association Spectrum Scholar, a 2014 American Library Association Emerging Leader, and a 2014 graduate of the Texas Library Association’s Texas Accelerated Library Leadership Institute (TALL Texans).

Lynette is passionate about library advocacy, developing community partnerships, and mentoring and training the next generation of library professionals, believing that libraries play a central role in the economic and educational progress and success of their communities. She believes that libraries should be welcoming and inclusive spaces, reflecting the interests, needs and wants of the communities they serve.

Lynette recalled that one of her happiest memories was of her father walking her to their neighborhood library, the David Raines Branch, for its summer reading program. Today, she brought two of her childhood SML cards to share with the staff.

Please join us in welcoming Lynette Roberson to the Shreve Memorial Library Team!
