Shreveport Volunteer Network

Shreveport Volunteer Network Shreveport Volunteer Network is a registered 501 (c) (3) charity organization. We attract volunteers through social influence and leading by example.

We are first to volunteer on projects, assess the needs, determine the resources and take action. Shreveport Volunteer Network was officially formed as an organization and approved by the IRS as a charity organization June 30,2020. We specialize in community lead disaster emergency response and relief. Our organization's officers are made up of Tommy Giles of Keithville, LA Executive Director and

Keith Bryant - Co-Founder of Keithville, Louisiana. Our vision is to prepare, equip and mobilize citizens of this community to take immediate action towards emergency and disaster response related needs within a community. All citizens should have the basic necessities to survive a natural or unnatural disaster. The Shreveport Volunteer Network has the ability to rally communities to gain additional man power from the private sector when local and state government agencies aren’t able to. Our long term strategy is to develop SVN emergency warehouses all over the city to provide material goods to the citizens of the community, led by the Shreveport Volunteer Network and in partnership with local and state elected officials. We want to be an asset. Our capacity to rally a community and communicate available assistance is great. In August 2020, SVN helped the City of Shreveport clear over 30 major trees across major emergency routes, and we cleared over 75 homes in the Shreveport area as well as an additional 5 months clearing trees and debris from another 245 homes and distributing over 1.5 million pounds of food and home goods to the citizens of Lake Charles, Sulphur and surrounding areas. We were made for such a time as this. Our experience before forming the Shreveport Volunteer Network extends back to hurricane harvey and more recently hurricane laura and delta. During tornado season we are especially busy with our elite chainsaw teams. The best part about volunteering with SVN, is that anyone can volunteer.

Tuesday Testimony 🙌🏽📖🏀

What an incredible testimony of faith, partnership, and community!

Within just two days, we were able to collect 150 Youth Bibles for the intentional action to Mentor, and Teach Basketball Skills led by Stromile Swift and our good friend Terrance Jefferson along with many other coaches/volunteers.

We were excited when Terrance shared his desire to extend the Word of God to the youth attending this camp. He mentioned the idea of providing Bibles but wondered if it might be too late to make it happen. But when the word of faith went out, we believed together with Terrance and Stromile that, by the grace of God, it could be done.

At 11:00 PM last night, we secured all 150 Bibles, along with additional donations to support the camp!

Today, through the partnership of Stromile Swift Basketball Camp and Caddo Parish, more than 150 young people were impacted—not only through basketball, but through the life-changing power of God's Word.

We are deeply moved by the commitment of leaders like Stromile and Terrance to bring biblical literacy and positive mentorship to the youth of our community.

That is what it looks like to truly love your city.

A huge thank you to everyone who gave, prayed, shared, and believed with us.

Caddo Parish and Stromile Swift knocked it out of the park today!

We are proud of our city. We are proud of our people. And we are grateful for what God is doing through united hearts and willing hands.

Love one another. ❤️

🍂 Tuesday Tribute of Gratitude ❤️

As we move through this season of thankfulness, we want to recognize the incredible individuals who answer the call when disaster strikes.

While many seek shelter and safety, disaster response volunteers and teams step forward with courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to help others in their greatest time of need. From storms and floods to fires and emergencies, your service brings hope where it’s needed most. 🙏

Thank you to every volunteer, first responder, supporter, donor, and community partner who stands ready to serve. Your sacrifice, long hours, and dedication do not go unnoticed.

Because of you, families find comfort, communities rebuild, and hope remains strong even in the hardest moments. 💙

Today, we honor those who answer the call.

600 tornadoes reported across the country.

Early projections for this year show numbers trending even higher, reminding us just how unpredictable and powerful storm season can be.

When disaster strikes, it’s not just about the storm—it’s about how communities respond. Disaster relief efforts step in to provide immediate support, from shelter and supplies to helping families begin the long road to recovery.

That’s where the Shreveport Volunteer Network comes in.

In moments of uncertainty, we stand ready to serve—mobilizing volunteers, coordinating resources, and
supporting our neighbors when they need it most.

You may not always see the storm coming, but you can count on a community that shows up afterward. 💛🩶
