It was a great day of celebration in Natchitoches on Sunday. Emmanuel UMC with Rev Jerald Danzell had an inspiring service of worship. Then Rev Gary Willis at First UMC Natchitoches hosted former pastor and guest speaker Rev Donald Avery for their anniversary celebration. Of course no celebration is completed without a special guest appearance from John, Charles and Susanna Wesley.

Why go to church?
I get that question often. I go to learn, to be challenged and to hear a good word from God or about God and I certainly got that today from Rev Kennon Pickett at First Alexandria and Rev Austin Rinehart at First Pineville. I also loved to sing the songs of faith from traditional hymns to lively contemporary songs. I got that today too. But here is why I really LOVE to go to church. Something happens AT church that you can’t get from watching church on television or online and that is COMMUNITY! People who care if you are there. People who will pray for you and with you. People who lift you up when you can’t lift yourself and who will dance for joy in the good times. I also got that today. That is why
I GO TO CHURCH.
I hope you will too at a UMC near you.
