Seeds To Success

Seeds To Success We are collaborating with Shreveport Green, LSU AgCenter, We Grow Together!, and Red River Coalition of Community Gardeners to make this dream a reality.

LSUHSC Occupational Therapy Students in collaboration with LSU AgCenter, Shreveport Green, and The Church of the Holy Cross, creating a sustainable garden to enrich quality of life by fostering community health and wellness in downtown Shreveport. "Man, through the use of his hands, as they are energized by mind and will, can influence the state of his own health." –Mary Reilly

The LSUHSC Occupat

ional Therapy class of 2014 is creating a sustainable garden to enrich quality of life by fostering community health and wellness and building a brighter future for the people of downtown Shreveport. We are currently seeking any monetary donations, gardening supplies, and volunteers. Research shows that a community garden not only provides healthy food for those in need, it also encourages self reliance, creates income opportunities, reduces stress, beautifies neighborhoods, stimulates social interaction, empowers the community toward change, reduces crime, increases neighborhood property values, has a positive effect on the environment, and fosters a sense of community. How does our garden grow?

All the vegetables, all the herbs
All in a perfect row
First we plant and then we water
That's how we grow from the seed we sow

Keeping a little space
Tomato here, okra there
Each one has their place

How exciting it is
When your working together
Providing healthy food
Making life a little better.
