“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints.” — Psalm 116:15.

It is with heavy hearts and faith in God’s promises, we announce the transition of Deacon Roosevelt Hawthorne, our oldest deacon at Bright Star Baptist Church of Shreveport. At 92 years old, he transitioned on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

We thank God for his life, his service, and the blessing of having him as part of our Bright Star family. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will remain precious in our hearts.

Please keep the Hawthorne family and our entire church family lifted in prayer. Ask God to grant comfort, strength, and peace as we walk through this season of loss together.

Rest well, Deacon Hawthorne. You are loved and will be remembered.

Pastor Patrick L. Dennis & Your Bright Star BC of Shreveport Family.
*Funeral arrangements are pending.

We had the pleasure of volunteering our help to Logos and Life Community Church during their monthly feeding outreach event. It's such an honor to be able to serve where there's a need. 2 churches coming together for 1 common goal.

Thank you, Calandra Brayboy, for the pics & post.

Miss Kholbi Noelle Allums accepted the Lord as her Savior. 🙌🏾 She professed her faith by being baptized today. We thank God for His saving grace as another soul has been won for the Kingdom. 💜
