A few of our members represented SSNA at this week’s SDNA meeting! The session featured a guest speaker from the VA who shared valuable insight on nursing burnout and the importance of team connection.
Afterward, attendees put that advice into practice with a fun round of golf to promote team bonding and self-care. ⛳💙 A big thank you to SDNA, Dr. Downey, and Dr. Rennie for supporting our future nurses!

💫 Introducing our new Treasurer, Za'Miracle! 💫

"Hey y’all! My name is Za'Miracle Edwards, and I’m a 22-year-old sophomore at Northwestern State University in Shreveport, currently working toward my Associate Degree in Nursing. I proudly serve as the Treasurer for our Student Nursing Association, where I help manage finances, organize events, and support my fellow nursing students. Growing up in Shreveport, Louisiana, I’ve always been surrounded by a strong sense of community, and that’s carried over into my journey as a student nurse. Being part of SNA has helped me grow as a leader and taught me how important it is to stay organized, focused, and passionate about the work we do.
Outside of nursing, I’m someone who thrives on creativity and connection. I love singing, writing music, and watching anime—those are my favorite ways to unwind and stay inspired. My favorite colors are blue and black, which reflect both my calm and bold sides. I’m very close to my family and friends, and their love and support have been the foundation of everything I’ve accomplished. They keep me grounded and remind me of my purpose. To all nursing students out there: never give up. This path isn’t easy, but every challenge is a step toward becoming the nurse you’re meant to be. Keep pushing forward, lean on your support system, and trust that your hard work will pay off."

✨ Meet Our Next Officer ✨
We’re so excited to introduce Tierra, our new Secretary! 📝
"My name is Tierra Sanders, and I am a 5th level Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student from Shreveport, Louisiana. Pursuing a nursing degree has been one of the most rewarding and transformative experiences of my life. I’ve always had a heart for helping others, and nursing allows me to make a real difference in people’s lives through compassion, care, and knowledge. As I approach the final stages of my program, I feel proud of how far I’ve come and excited for the future ahead in the nursing profession.
Some of my favorite ways to relax and recharge are spending quality time with my family and friends, traveling to new places, and shopping. My favorite color is purple, which I feel reflects both strength and creativity. A fun fact about me is that I have a twin sister, and sharing life with someone who truly understands me has been such a special and supportive part of my journey. I’m looking forward to continuing this path and using what I’ve learned to positively impact the lives of others."
