Bark-La-Tex Rescue

Bark-La-Tex Rescue Bark-La-Tex Rescue is a 501(c)(3) foster-based rescue in Shreveport, Louisiana. We network to help save dogs and transport when possible.

UPDATE 2021
While Bark-La-Tex Rescue officially closed for intakes years ago, we remain in the animal community educating the public about responsible pet ownership and canine (and the occasional feline) health. We share valuable information. Our passions still lie in correcting the problems in Caddo Parish, and that starts with education. ORIGINAL 2015
Bark-La-Tex Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit

animal rescue based in Shreveport, Louisiana. CEO and Founder Samantha Schuster opened this rescue with the main focus being to help dogs right here in Caddo Parish, though BLTR is not limited to pulling from Caddo Parish Animal Services. We pull from public-intake "kill shelters" and keep the dogs safe from euthanasia while getting them healthy. A lot of dogs that come to us are heartworm positive, and treatment for heartworms costs roughly $400 per dog. We also spay/neuter and vaccinate all of our animals (roughly $200 per dog). Because we are a non-profit, we rely heavily on donations. Please consider helping us save more lives! Donations can be made via PayPal using [email protected] or straight to our vet, South Shreveport Animal Hospital, over the phone - 318.798.2400.
