Basic Necessities is excited to invite you to participate as a community vendor at Well Mom, Well Baby: Celebrate, Connect & Care on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 12:00–2:00 p.m. at The Highland Center.

This special event is designed as a day of appreciation for the parents and families we serve. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we will be providing a complimentary Thanksgiving lunch while creating a welcoming space for families to connect with local organizations, learn about available resources, and celebrate the strength of our community.

We set a goal of 5,000 diapers during National Diaper Need Awareness Week. You gave us more than 20,000. That is enough to keep 400 babies clean and dry over the next few months.

A quick correction - and something we're actually really proud of:

We recently shared that we served about 100 people during our first year. After reviewing our records, we realized we understated our impact.

During our first seven months, we served approximately 130 people but by the end of our first year, we had served a total of 332 families. So, while 100 people was not accurate, the actual number is even better.

332 families our first year. That number represents real families, real needs, and real people who trusted us to help provide essential resources when they needed them most.

We're committed to being transparent about our numbers and telling our story accurately and we're incredibly grateful that our community allowed us to grow from serving those first 130 people, to where we are today.

Thank you to the volunteers, donors, and community supporters who have stood side by side with us over the last 6+ years.

Every baby deserves a safe place to sleep, and every parent deserves the knowledge to make that happen.

This October, Basic Necessities is bringing that conversation to Shreveport. Starting the 15th, join us every Thursday from 11am to 1pm at The Highland Center for Unpacking Safer Sleep. It is a welcoming space to ask questions and get real information, from people who care.
