The Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) recognizes its members' outstanding work product through this annual awards program.

Professional and student entries are judged in thirty categories representing long-term strategic programs, short-term strategic programs, and tactical materials. To be eligible, entries must have been produced/appeared in the previous calendar year, January 1 through December 31.

Submissions are scored on their individual merit based on adherence and success utilizing the four-step RPIE process by PR practitioners outside SPRF's four-state region. Award-winning entries demonstrating excellence in process and results are recognized with Certificates of Merit and Awards of Excellence, with top projects and programs earning Lantern Awards.

SPRF annually recognizes the career achievements of a public relations professional through the Professional Achievement Awards. Each state chooses one professional that has a minimum of 15 years in the industry, has contributed to the success of the chapter, state, and/or Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) through leadership roles within the organization or other professional organizations, has participated in public relations community service, has realized recognized success in the practice of public relations during the individual career, and has received their Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) by a UAB member organization. SPRF established this award to recognize an individual that has continually demonstrated the highest ideals of the profession as well as a commitment to advance the profession of public relations.
