It is finished! And we still have two months left in 2026. The pictures show the member holding the completed shadowbox, then the cubicle from last night, then the completed box. We started decorating these shadowboxes in January and just finished them last night at our meeting. In December we usually have a Christmas party instead of a meeting, so all we have to do is plan a project for November. What fun!

Cindy sent over more pictures of our sales table at last Saturday's Toy Box Treasures Doll & Toy Show & Sale. We brought both dolls and miniatures to sell and we talked to customers about our club. In the second picture you can see the blue house-shaped business card holder that Cindy's husband 3D printed, along with name tags for all of us. Also on that table is a display Cindy made using items we have made over the years at our monthly club meetings. Such talent!

Three members of our group had a booth at the Antique Doll and Toy Show & Sale yesterday. We had a great time meeting others interested in dolls and miniatures. We had good sales, wonderful conversations and fun shopping too! One purchase that was made is the tiny 2 1/4 inch doll pictured below that Martha purchased for a really good price! The doll, named Coraly, is by artist Kathe Kruse and will find a home in Martha's 1/24th scale collection.

Our 2026 Miniature Shadow Box project is almost complete! After we finished filling a space last night at our meeting, we only have one more to go, which we will do at the October meeting. That leaves November open to choose a new project.

So, last night Martha filled her section with Birthday items in celebration of her 75th. Cindy completed her Halloween spot, then worked on applying ornaments (provided by Mickey) to her Christmas tree. Mickey started work on her Fall/Thanksgiving decor but still has a way to go. Everyone was busy crafting and discussing our plans for our sales table at the North Louisiana Doll & Toy Show on Saturday, September 26. Hope y'all come out and meet us!

The Ark-La-Tex Miniatures Society will be at the Toy Box Treasures Show & Sale on Saturday, September 26, 2026. We will have dolls and miniatures for sale and information about our club. Hope to see you there!

We are almost finished with our year-long project, an enclosed, glass front shadowbox. Only two more compartments to go! Here is the results of last Wednesdays meeting. Is it just me, are we getting better each month? Mickey added a bunch of grackles to her Fall scene, and she made those birds by hand! Cindy added lights to her shadowbox which really stands out in the Christmas compartment--she plans to decorate the tree later. And Martha made a fireplace scene in her Fall/Thanksgiving large corner compartment.

Our meeting last night began with a tasty surprise, Cindy brought fruit-decorated and fruit filled cupcakes from Whole Foods! Delish! Then we all shared items we brought to share, either for our current project or for our stash, to be used at another time. Sharing is such a great feeling! Our Shadow Box Project continued with our 4th of July Celebration, marking the 250th Birthday of the USA. Just look at the creative scenes in 2 3/8"wide x 1 1/2" hi x 1 1/2" deep area!

Last night we celebrated our first class as an official NAME club. NAME is the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts, based in Carmel, IN. Their mission is to promote miniatures through education, collecting, and building friendships and skills through the sharing of experience and ideas. And that is what we do in our club meetings, which you can clearly see in these photos.

At our May meeting, we continued by decorating a section of our shadow box project. Cindy chose Birthday as her theme since hers' is the end of the month. She started by papering the background with a pretty bird and flower design, the added decorative touches to celebrate! Martha went with a simple Christmas decor of a Snowman, 4 glittery trees and 2 shiny packages. Mickey started her Christmas scene with the Nativity scene on the left, transitioned into a snowy winter village, then finished it out on the right with Saint Nick and a Christmas tree! Such creativity by all!

We got to see it live and lit up! Cindy's Tiki Bar is even better in person! I posted pictures of it a few weeks ago, but then she brought it to our meeting. So bright & pretty and such great details! Good job, Cindy!
