It was a full weekend of music and fellowship for the first High School Choral Institute with the Prisma Vocal Ensemble as local high school students joined members of Prisma. Focused on rehearsals under the leadership of Dr. Shane Thomas the weekend also included breakout sessions on vocal health, being a lifelong singer, and preparing for college. We are deeply grateful to the North Louisiana Jewish Federation whose support made this unique program possible!

What a gift to hear the incredible program spanning 400 years of music from the Jewish Diaspora put together by Robert Cruz of the Carrefour Collaborative Music Project! Hearing Hebrew lyrics set to such diverse musical styles embodied the rich cultural exchange that was a theme of the event. Bravo to the instrumentalists and the Northwestern State University Choral Artists!

About the Project

Founded in March 2020 at the outset of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Carrefour Chamber Music Project (CCMP) seeks to build community through collaborative music-making. Taking it’s name from the French word for “crossroads”, CCMP is based in Shreveport, Louisiana, once a geographical crossroads where river traffic once connected to land routes and now at the intersection of two major interstates. It came into being during a historical crossroads filled with turbulence and uncertainty and focuses on chamber music, a musical crossroads that falls between solo and orchestral music. But the greatest passion of CCMP is the crossroads between performer and audience, a critical communal partnership . This passion drives the CCMP to bring compelling programs featuring local performers to an engaged audience.
