This tiny, scruffy face is Hippo, and today, we're going to talk about the reality of rescue. It's often gritty, exhausting, and heartbreaking work, but that piece is rarely shown. The picture we're sharing is from one of Hippo's toughest moments, a glimpse into what "saving lives" actually feels like for our team and our fosters.

While he was very tiny when we got him, he quickly started gaining weight and seemed surprisingly healthy. Two weeks later, his foster mom noticed he wasn't eating as well, he was kind of blah, and his breathing was off.

Our team put a customized medical plan into action - a specialized "pick me up" treatment.
