Shorewood HUGS Shorewood HUGS is a non-profit, women's organization that gives back to the community through wishes and by supporting other charitable organizations.

Shorewood HUGS was founded in 2008 by a group of 5 moms that wanted to give back to the community in which they raised their children. Their goal was to host unique events and raise funds to give back to the community by fulfilling wishes. To date we've fulfilled over 930 wishes within a 20 mile radius of Shorewood! What started with 5 founders has grown to over 40 members passionate about our community and the people in it.

Earlier this year we delivered wish #1409 for this sweet, young couple. The young man had a debilitating stroke, and although he has made progress he has a long road ahead of him. HUGS was happy to provide a much needed gift card for gas to get back and forth to therapy, groceries and any other needs they may have.

Sending lots of HUGS to this young couple. We hope each day brings strength and progress.

In March we fulfilled wish #1419. This wish was for the foster parents to take their sweet girl to Disney World. She had a very hard start to her life so far. HUGS does not provide vacations as part of our wishes program but with the family heading to Florida, we gave them Disney gift cards to help provide the Disney World experience. We also presented the little girl with a Princess Dress, Elsa back pack, Disney skirt and Tee shirt, Mickey ears, and an Elsa doll.

Have you heard? Our friends at Habitat are having a HUGE 2 day event next weekend!! There’s still time to sign up to volunteer for The MIX of ’26: Beyond Beer and Bourbon! Will-Grundy Habitat for Humanity is raising money for a veteran build, and they need our help! We have 20 volunteers from Shorewood HUGS working at this event! We had a great time tonight at Hits for HUGS! Thank you to Minooka High School’s Boys Volleyball team and Plainfield High School North’s Boys Volleyball team for supporting HUGS with this fundraiser! During this event we fulfilled wish #1433 for Mighty Mason, a young Channahon resident that was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Sending big HUGS, healing thoughts, and prayers for Mason and his family. ❤️

We are proud supporters of the Will County Humane Society!

Thank You Shorewood HUGS for your support over the past 15 years!

WCHS is so grateful for all you do and for hosting the annual Doggie Easter Egg Hunt! We look forward to this fundraising event every year.

Today WCHS was presented with a $2000 check from HUGS members, in support of all our efforts to help homeless animals.

Thank you to HUGS and all the supporters and community members who attended this year’s event in April and we can’t wait to see you again next year!

Both Milo and Bonnie (pictured) are adorable and up for adoption!!
