๐ G was originally referred to Lake City Partners by our valued partners at the City of Seattle Government's Unified Care Team. After experiencing homelessness for more than a decade, G shared with his referrer that he was ๐ณ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ป๐ฒ๐
๐ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ต๐ผ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด. He wanted the stability of a home so he could begin building the life he envisioned and dedicate more time to his artwork.
G was already connected to several service providers in the community, and ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฑ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐น๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐. It helped that he was a frequent visitor at our GLA Day Center, which serves as a place where relationships and trust can be built over time. Through consistent, compassionate engagement and honest conversations about what to expect, G, who had once been hesitant to accept a shelter placement, felt comfortable taking that important step.
G entered our Aurora Oaks Enhanced Shelter in December, and Lake City Partners staff worked closely with him to identify a housing opportunity that aligned with his needs and goals. Through a local lease-up process coordinated by DESC, G was ultimately matched with a permanent home.
Securing permanent housing was a significant milestone, but equally important was how the process unfolded. G felt seen and heard throughout his journey, demonstrating how ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ๐, ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฝ๐ can create pathways to lasting housing stability and a renewed sense of possibility.
