“And Yaakov Went On His Way” 🛣️🚶♂️
(Bereishis/Genesis 32:2)
The Chagim are behind us.
Sukkot is over, the dancing has quieted, and real life is back: work, errands, emails, schedules.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe teaches that this isn't an ending. It's actually a beginning. The words "V'Yaakov halach l'darko" - “And Yaakov (esoteric meaning: the Jewish people) went on his way" - remind us that the festivals of Tishrei weren't only about those days. They were spiritual fuel for the year (the “road”) ahead.
The mission now is to bring the holiness & inspiration of the Chagim into the ordinary: our workdays, our conversations, our meals, our to-do lists. Not just in Torah and mitzvot, but in "all your ways," so that even the mundane becomes a home for G-d in this world.
A few thoughts to take with us:
✨ "Went": We're never meant to stand still. Every day is a chance to go higher.
✨ "His way": Each of us has a unique path, yet we remain one people.
✨ "Way”: Two distant points become connected through a “way”, or path.
The inspiration we received during the past few weeks should serve to connect the lowest, most mundane aspects of our daily lives to the highest, most inspiring moments which we’ve “accumulated” during the Holidays.
Thus, even the most seemingly insignificant moments become infused with meaning and purpose!
And the verse concludes with: "And the angels of G-d met him."
We don't walk alone.
Wishing everyone a good, sweet, and productive new season. Let's take the light of Tishrei with us.
