Highland Terrace Family Science Night is almost here!
Join us for a night of all things STEM - Birds, frogs, reptiles, robots, crafts, experiments, a petting zoo, and more!
When: Thursday, May 28th, from 6:30-8:00 pm
Soft opening at 6:00 for families who benefit from quieter spaces
Where: Highland Terrace Elementary

Please note that adult supervision is required; this is not a drop-off event. There will also be an opportunity to purchase a sweet treat at the 5th-grade Camp Bake Sale on site to benefit the 5th-Grade camp next year.

Calling all gardeners! It’s time for some spring cleaning of our garden beds at Highland Terrace!
Let’s see what difference we can make to the front beds and patio together.

When: This Sunday, 5/17 - 10AM to 12PM
Where: Front of HT
Bring: Your weeding gardening tools, buckets, shovels, and garden gloves

We’ll provide water and snacks! See you there!

Hear the latest on the Playground Refresh from Principal Drew
Discuss and vote on the preliminary budget for next year - as a PTA member, you have two opportunities for budget input - we vote on it in May and September.
Vote in our new Co-president and Secretary, and hear about other open PTA roles for next year
At the very least, come have some food and meet some other parents! All are welcome!
We hope to see some new faces at the table! If you have never been, this is a great meeting to join and learn more about the PTA!

A big congratulations to the incredible Ms. Monica! 🏆✨ The nominations are in, and it’s clear that Ms. Monica is a cornerstone of the Highland Terrace community. Whether she’s running Science Night, stepping in as a lead teacher, or making math and reading feel like a breeze, her impact is felt by everyone.
Thank you, Ms. Monica, for your heart, your hard work, and for being such a wonderful role model for our students. We are so lucky to have you!

GOLDEN ACORN - Lara Bain!
Huge cheers for the phenomenal Lara Bain! 🏆✨Lara is the definition of “all-in” at Highland Terrace. Whether she’s rocking a disco ball helmet as “DJ Bain” at the Glow Party or leading our biggest auction in history, her energy and dedication have transformed our school community.

🌼The HT Spring Clean Drive has started! Collecting items 4/27 to 5/19!

New season, new beginnings, and a chance to make a big difference for Shoreline students. We are collecting essential items to stock the shelves at The Works.

What we’re collecting:
• New Socks (Kids - Adult Sizes).
• New Underwear (4T - Adult XXL)
• Toothbrushes (Kids & Adult)
• Toothpaste (Kids & Adult)                                                        
• Deodorant 

🗓️Dates: April 27th - May 19th
📍Drop-off Location: PTA Donation Box at front office of HT

 🌷The Works is a free student clothing room that provides high quality, clean, gently used children’s and teen clothing and self-care items to Shoreline School District children. Shoreline families can bring their children to “shop” for gently used, stylish clothing.
🌸The Works is normally open on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm when school is in session.

Save the date!  The Highland Terrace PTA will be hosting Science Night in May! 

* When: Thursday, May 28th from 6:30pm to 8pm 
* Where: Highland Terrace

We are looking for a few more vendors for the event! 
* Maybe you are an engineer (or you know one) who could have a station related to building challenges, design thinking, or problem solving - think marshmallow toothpick structures, tin foil boats that can hold weight, paper bridge design to hold weight?
* Maybe you are connected to someone with a hands-on job related to science that could be informational and involve a hands-on component - simple science experiment, fish dissection, or microscopes looking at something
* Maybe you and your student just love at-home science experiments and can think of one that could happen at scale

🌎 Tomorrow! Let’s celebrate Earth Day with a special spirit day on Friday, April 17th! Wear clothing with flowers, animals, rainbows, trees, or the colors of nature. HT’s Green Team, one of our 3rd-5th grade Leadership Clubs, will host some fun activities for students at recess!
