In honor of school buses rolling through the district on Tuesday, today we're all about that bus ('bout that bus).

Part 1: Bus Riding Need-to-Knows

Here's what every rider (and family) needs to know before that first pickup:

πŸ• Double-check your bus info on Monday, the day before school starts. Pick-up and drop-off times can shift slightly as we get closer to day one, so make sure you've got the latest details.

⏰ Be at your assigned stop 5 minutes early. The bus won't wait, so a few minutes of buffer makes all the difference.

🚏 Ride your assigned route only. Students are assigned a stop based on their home address, so that's the one to use every day.

πŸ‘‹ Kindergarten families: a parent, guardian, or authorized adult must be present at drop-off. No exceptions for those littlest bus riders!

Part 2 of All About That Bus: Play It S.A.F.E. πŸ›‘

Those big yellow buses can weigh up to 18 tons, and not every driver on the road gives them the space they deserve. So before the wheels start rolling, let's review how to play it S.A.F.E.:

S β€” Stay back at least 10 feet (about 5 giant steps) from the curb while you wait.

A β€” Always wait for the bus to come to a complete stop and for the driver to signal it's OK to board.

F β€” Face forward once you're seated. No turning around!

E β€” Exit only after the bus has stopped completely and always cross in front of the bus, only when the driver signals it's safe.

Grown-ups, practice it with your rider this week, it's a quick conversation that keeps everyone safe all year long. πŸ’›

We can be tricky to find! This may help.
The Works is located on the north side of the Shoreline Center at 18560 1st Ave NE, Shoreline, WA 98155! Enter the north parking lot off of 1st Avenue NE (just south of the tennis/pickleball courts). Once in the parking lot, drive straight until you have to turn right. Then as you continue straight ahead, past the maintenance building, you'll see our blue door and the sign for The Works.
