Remember that Shively was created to protect the distilleries from being annexed by Louisville and paying Louisville taxes...

Before it was called Shively, it was called St. Helen, KY. But when they incorporated it as a city, there already was a St. Helen, KY. So they chose Shively after the family that owned most of the land at one time.
