VFW Post 4513 honors his service to our country. As he rests here in our local community, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace. 🇺🇸.
Erwin was laid to rest at Settlement Cemetery in Shirley, Arkansas.
His surviving family includes nephew Jim Erwin and great-niece Reva Bushatz, both recognized in the governor’s proclamation for continuing to honor his memory.
For Erwin’s family, the homecoming provided an opportunity that generations before them never experienced: the chance to honor their loved one and finally bring him home.

🎖️ He was just 20 YEARS OLD when he died serving his country.
💔 He survived the brutal Bataan Death March during World War II.
🇺🇸 He endured unimaginable conditions inside a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp.
⏳ For 84 YEARS, his family waited for him to come home.
🙏 Now, Corporal Delmor W. Erwin of Newport, Arkansas, is finally home — and Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has ordered flags lowered across Arkansas in his honor.
🇺🇸 On MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2026, United States and Arkansas flags will fly at HALF-STAFF from sunrise until sunset.
