Jute's Story **Heart condition**

Jute was born in 2017. Jute's original owner was experiencing health issues so Jute found his way to Better Days

Upon Jute's arrival, we learned he had a Grade III to IV heart murmur. Upon consulting our vet, it was decided Jute needed to see a cardiologist. The cardiologist diagnosed Jute with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. This is a condition that causes the walls of Jute's heart to thicken, decreasing the heart's efficiency. According to the cardiologist, Jute's heart rate is well controlled. He is prescribed a daily medication which he readily eats in his favorite treat and requires biannual echocardiograms to monitor his heart function which cost approximately $800 per visit.

Although Jute has a heart condition, he is active, affectionate, sweet, and playful. He has resided at Better Days Thrift store since his arrival and demands attention from the volunteers and customers, who all are more then willing to give him attention (basically he is very spoiled).

Jute would be a wonderful addition to any family; however, due to his heart condition, he will require a family that is financially able to afford his cardiologist visits which are required and not optional.

Lenny's Story

We were contacted about Lenny by his colony caregiver when he was drooling excessively and unable to eat. Lenny was flea infested, malnourished, dehydrated, and found to have significant dental disease. Once BDAL rescued Lenny, he has had all of his remaining teeth removed.

This handsome long haired fella is the sweetest. The vet estimates he was born in 2017. His tongue sometimes sticks out since he has no teeth to hold it in and he's a little bit of a messy eater. He also has a bobtail.

Lenny loves to be loved and enjoys also being brushed. This sweet boy would be a great companion and would likely enjoy a quiet home in which to enjoy his senior years.

Velvet's Story

Velvet came to Better Days when their owner was no longer able to care for him. Velvet was born in April 2024.

Velvet is a big boy and enjoys being petted. He is on the shy side and does take a while to get acclimated to new surroundings. Velvet will do best in a quiet home with a patient family.

Meet Sassy

Sassy and 15 other cats came to the rescue after their family moved following a fire and left them behind. This lovely lady is estimated to be 3 years old.

Sassy is sweet but she is shy. She loves being with the other cats but still is a little unsure. Sassy will do best in a quiet home with a patient family. She really wants to be loved but lacks confidence. She allows her foster to pet her and has no issues being picked up but is scared by sudden movements.

Sassy is spayed and current on all vaccinations
Adoption fee is $50

Josie's Story

Josie came to BDAL after being found in the woods. She is believed to have been born in mid- to late-May 2022.

Josie is playful and loving. Josie will do well in any family.

ATHENA

Athena's Story - We cannot believe Athena is still here!
Come meet this sweet girl!

Athena came to BDAL from an outdoor cat colony. BDAL helped TNR a large colony and later returned and took some of the kittens to help get them homes. Athena is sweet but she is shy and timid, especially when her surroundings change.

Athena is believed to have been born in April/May 2022. She is good around other cats and believe she will do fine with a cat-friendly dog with proper introduction.

Athena is spayed and current on her vaccinations.

Jordy's Story

Jordy came to BDAL with his 2 siblings. The litter were older kittens when we took them in and were a little unsure at times. Jordy has come a long way. He is always ready for some pets. He tolerates being held but prefers to have his feet on the ground. Jordy loves to play and run zoomies.

As Jordy can be timid and unsure with change, he would do best in a quiet home with a patient and understanding family. We would love to see Jordy find the purrfect family to call his own, If you can be that family, please go to www.betterdaysanimalleague.org
