Some of our scouts this week played paleontologist, freeing trapped “fossils” and learning about the layers of earth protecting their bones for millions of years. 🔎🦖🔨 Rock and soil layers were substituted with pudding & graham crackers. 🍮🦕 😋 Learning can be fun AND delicious!⚜️🇺🇸🫡

To help get our fifth-grade scouts ready for bigger adventures, they visited Sportsman's Warehouse Tuesday to learn all about backpacking gear. These scouts are almost done as Cubs, and will soon cross over from our pack to a scout troop as they continue their journey to Eagle.

REMEMBER the fallen. HONOR those who serve. TEACH children the value of freedom. Wreaths Across America - Shippensburg will once again lay remembrance wreaths on the graves of local veterans. Thank you Shippensburg! The food you donated last weekend has been turned over to local food banks and is helping families and seniors make ends meet without having to go hungry. You’re also helping scouts learn that we’re a community - and helping each other is what we do.

SATURDAY: Did you get a paper grocery bag at your door last week? Scouts will be out Saturday morning at 9am looking to see if you’ve put food donations out for local families. Please make sure it’s visible from the street and our kiddos will pick it up, sort it and hand it off to local food banks. Thank you for helping your neighbors in need!

SCOUTING FOR FOOD: on Saturday, scouts are coming to some Shippensburg homes to drop a paper bag. 👶 ⚜️The kiddos are hoping you’ll fill it with non-perishable food and place it back out the following Saturday before 9AM. 🛍️🥫They’ll come pick it up, and make sure it gets to your neighbors in need.🙏👪 Thanks!

One small step for man, one giant leap for Scouting too ⚜️ As an Eagle Scout, Armstrong even took his World Scout Badge to the moon. 🤩

It’s graduation time for some of our Cub Scouts - our fifth graders are starting something even better as they join a troop and continue on their Eagle Scout journey. 13 boys and girls just earned their Arrow of Light rank, and were welcomed by their new unit. Congratulations to them and their families!

A scout is reverent! Each February our scouts participate in Scout Sunday as a day of reflecting on the role of God in scouting. It also serves as an opportunity to say thank you to the Shippensburg First Church of God for hosting our Pack in their basement during the cold months. Our boys and girls took part in the service and hosted a reception afterwards.

There's science everywhere, and last night some of our Cubs got to learn about how it's used in forensics with the Shippensburg University Policy Department.🚨🔍📷 The kids also got to check out the tools of the job, including the cruiser and cuffs.🚓😀💻 Thanks so much to SUPD for hosting us and inspiring the next generation of law enforcement.

It’s no surprise to so see so many Scouts in this photo - teamwork, problem solving and perseverance is a big part of what we do, and sets the kids up for future success. Congrats kids!

The middle school Robohounds competed at the Lego League Regional Robotics qualifiers on Saturday. There were 30 teams with the top 7 moving onto PA Eastern States. This year's theme is Ocean explorations, so you have the shark team and the squid team 🙂. Here are their results.

The 6th grade Shark team of Madden Carroll, Logan Stahlman, Jacob Shank and Carter Mowery, took home the top award for sportsman ship (The Motivator Trophy) and scored 190 pts in their Robot game!

The 6th grade Squid team of Josiah Morton, Cooper Young, Christian Cressler, Virginia Milburn, Senan Lawrence, Charlotte Luhrs, Addie Wiser, Parker Andelin, and Matthew Kirkpatrick, won 2nd place in the Innovation Project (This is also a trophy) and qualified for the PA Eastern State Tournament in Philly next month.

We have a lot to be thankful for this month, including the strong community support of our annual Scouting for Food drive. ❤️ 🙏

Shippensburg University students helped us sort the donations, and some of it went to help fight hunger on campus👇

Local Shippensburg Scouts participate in Scouting for Food:

November 2-9, Scouting for America participated in the Scouting for Food (SFF) drive, an initiative that focuses on feeding the local community. This national food drive starts every year on the first Saturday of November and is a way to directly support food-insecure families and individuals in the Shippensburg area.
