🧾 “I’ll remember to write that down later” is not a great record-keeping system. 😆

Attendance, payments, expenses, incidents, mileage—whatever records you need to keep, the longer you wait to record something, the easier it is for details to disappear.

Look for ways to capture information when it happens. Enter the payment when it arrives. Snap a photo of the receipt. Record the mileage when you get back. Complete the incident report while the details are still fresh.

Not everything can be handled immediately, but the things that depend on your memory are usually worth recording before your brain moves on to the next 37 things. 🧠

🏡 Family child care doesn’t always fit neatly into conversations about early childhood.

Our programs operate in homes. Providers often work alone. We care for mixed ages, run businesses, build long-term relationships with families, and juggle responsibilities that can look very different from other early childhood settings.

Those differences matter when decisions are being made.

WFCCA advocates to make sure family child care—and the realities that come with it—is part of the conversation. 📣

🛑 Protecting your time and energy often comes down to deciding ahead of time what you will—and won’t—make exceptions for.

Maybe it’s your closing time. When tuition is due. How late drop-offs are handled. Whether families can text you after hours and expect an immediate response.

When those decisions are already made and clearly communicated, you don’t have to renegotiate them every time a situation comes up. And that can make it much easier to hold a boundary when someone asks, “Just this once?” 💪
