Yesterday was a great day to have a party. There were plane rides, there was a lot of good conversations and there was good food. And the beverages!

The food arrived right at 5 as promised. There were close to 65 folks in attendance. We always just order food for 80 bodies, and we certainly had a hungry crowd in the hangar. By 6pm, about all that was left was a few pieces of chicken and some raw veggies. Thanks to everyone at Romy's for feeding our crowd.

Folks always seem to like hanging out with us and it was 10pm before most of the crowd was gone. A few more beers amongst club members and the lights were turned off in the hangar at 11:30.

And so ended the 2026 Fly-in.

What a BEE YOO TEE FULL weekend! We got some promised rain yesterday for the pods & cobs and to settle the dust that's been blowing around for the past month.

Now, what better way to finish out this late summer weekend than to attend the Fly-in Banquet on Sunday afternoon? Weatherman has been promising perfect flying weather to get those plane rides!

And don't forget the Romy's chicken.

I desperately wanted to get road ditches mowed before the Fly-in, as I do every year, but all summer, just as things were always starting to dry out we'd always get that 2 or 3 inch gully washer that takes 2 weeks to dry out from.

I tried poking the mower deck into the ditch the Wednesday before the Fly-in but the standing water on the bottom told me to try another day. The Wednesday after the Fly-in and the ditches were good enough to not get stuck if I didn't do anything stupid.

The weatherman for the past several days said rain for tonight, so the ditches needed to get beat down for several days. Now, hopefully, we can keep them mowed for a couple of months.

While I was playing in the ditches yesterday, the airport owns land west of Hwy.187 along the Shioc river that Fred & Lyndon Marcks were brush mowing with their equipment.

Now, let's hope we get an all-day slow rain as the corn & beans could sure use a drink.
