On September 16, our dreamer and founder, Kenny Robinson, passed away surrounded by his family in Texas. We are so grateful for his vision and love for this place and this community. Many of us fondly remember Kenny's dog and goat stories as well as his many hats as he greeted us going through the serving line for meals. We remember him sitting on the staff cabin porch laughing and telling stories. Personally, I remember making hundreds of biscuits with him at 5am on Thursday mornings. His presence brought joy and a deep sense of life to those around him. Kenny held a deep love for his home state of West Virginia. Our own recently retired Camp Director, Doug Mallow, will be conducting his graveside service. Kenny is now at peace with his Savior.

We had some hard-working groups during week 5! It was incredible to see the teamwork between teams on a couple of jobs as they complimented each other’s work. Praise the Lord for continued safety, strength, encouragement, and relationship building. 🙌🏽

Last week’s group will forever affectionately be known as the “happy crew”. Thanks for coming! You all lifted our spirits as well as the community. 😁 Time for week 5!

We are gearing up to start week 4 today! As shared in a previous post we are having a fundraiser for a 130 foot wheelchair ramp and handicap accessible bathroom for a family in our community with two teenagers who have Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2 (for more information click the link below). The teenagers’ mom gave us permission to share these letters she wrote expressing the family’s gratitude and need. We love our homeowners!

A team from Frederick, MD started the project in June and made tremendous progress. We have a team from PA coming to continue this project today and a team from VA hopefully complete the porch roof next week. It’s an all hands on deck effort! We need to raise additional funds to cover the costs of this unique opportunity. Your support and gifts will help us give Hailey and Harley a safer, more accessible home for years to come.

We’ve battled extreme heat the last few days but our teams are still getting the work done! We are thankful for their willingness to serve even when it’s not easy or comfortable. The Lord’s provision and safety has surrounded us. 🙌🏽

Despite the flooding and challenges, our teams are working hard and finding thankfulness in the trials. Teams from PA, NY, SC, and VA have been a blessing to Carolina, Mannington, Barackville, and Fairmont this week. They have been sharing every evening of the connections they’re experiencing with their homeowners and it is encouraging us all. Thank you for the continued prayers for WV as our neighbors are still recovering from the flash flooding on Sunday. Pray for us as we seek to love them well through the pain, suffering, and loss.
