Congratulations to Levi and Grant Collom on their first (and very successful) year in Ag Mechanics!

This the 3rd year for this competition at our OCJLS. Items from Ag Mechanics will be up for auction at the sale tomorrow night.

In the 1920s and Depression-era 1930s, 4-H "Pig Clubs" or "Baby Beef Projects" engaged boys (and some girls) aged 12–18 in raising hogs or calves from birth. Teens built pens, managed feed, tracked growth records, and exhibited at county fairs. One notable Midwest example: club members raised litters that won top prizes, selling pigs for profit to help families buy school clothes or pay debts when crop prices plummeted. These projects taught business skills, animal care, and resilience, with many youth crediting them for family farm survival during economic hardship.
