50 Flags Veterans Memorial This page is to create awareness for the 50 Flags Veterans Memorial being planned in Shickley, Nebraska to honor all veterans and their service.

To build a permanent memorial dedicated to honoring the men and women of the United States Military who have served their country. We want to honor the sacrifices that have been made. The memorial consists of a bronze statue center piece sitting on top of a gray granite pedestal. Attached to the sides of the center pedestal will be engraved black plaques representing all five branches of the milit

ary. Surrounding the center pedestal will be six black granite slabs sitting on top of 18" gray granite bases. Names of veterans will be engraved on one side, historical data and pictures will be engraved on the other. To the rear of the memorial will be a black granite wall etched with portraits of our family heroes surrounded by military and war pictures. Flags will be placed around the area along with benches, donor pavers, lighting, and a walkway with appropriate landscaping. Throughout the memorial 50 American Flags will be displayed (both flying and etched into the artwork on the walls).

The Shickley Sons of the American Legion is in the process of getting a bid to add additional names to the 50 Flags Veterans' Memorial. We would ask that anyone who has additional names they desire to add to the memorial to get us those names before November 15th. It has been a long process to get a company come out to add names so we would like to get as complete bid of a bid as possible for when they do arrive.
