As we are wrapping up this week of S.T.E.A.M. camp, we wanted to share a few more pictures from the last few days. Kim Nuss, Juan, and the interns had a great time leading this group of eager students. They got to print 3D cars, robots, and remote controls. Take a look at the spinning tops that were designed and awards that were given out to each student. We love seeing these Shickley students thrive in this creative space!

Recap on day 1 & 2 of the STEAM CAMP! Our interns have had the opportunity to spend the last two mornings assisting 6th-9th grade students in learning more about STEAM components. The students learned about the platform Tinkercad, sketching their own spinning tops, and how to transfer their design to the 3D printer. Additionally, another team challenge they were given was a box of plain cardboard. In teams they got to design their own track, to see which ball would travel the fastest and farthest. This camp has continued to teach students about the importance of trial and error, using their imagination, and being creative! We can wait to share more pictures at the end of the week!

We are happy to share more information about our Youth Engagement Camp, that will take place on July 1st, starting . For lunch, our students will get to take a walk over to Bean & Barrel. While Bean & Barrel isn’t typically open on Wednesday for lunch, they were gracious enough to host our students for this camp. We are so excited to get to show the students this amazing asset they have in their hometown of Shickley. We encourage all families to sign up their students in incoming grades 1st-8th grade to enjoy this day of discovery with SCF! This camp is FREE for our youth due to Shickley Community Foundation grants.

July 1st, calling all Shickley Public School parents and guardians with students entering grades 1st through 8th grade! We want your kids to join SCF interns: Hannah Miller, Hayley Sliva, and Grace Tobias for our first YOUTH ENGAGEMENT CAMP! This is a great time for students to learn more about the community that has helped shape them, and will continue to in the future! The first exciting announcement of the summer is here! The Shickley Community Foundation is holding it's first Youth Engagement Camp for incoming 1st to 8th grade Shickley students. Thanks to SCF, registration is free of charge, and students will be treated to a free lunch at the Bean & Barrel along with a free t-shirt. Our goal here at SCF is to have as many students as present as possible! The day will be full of fun ways to embrace the town of Shickley and all that it has to offer.
